18/10/2011 Courier delivery affected by flooding.
Because of flooding in many areas of Thailand there may be some delays in delivery of EMS courier by Thai Post until the situation is normal. The affected areas are as follows:

14/10/2011 Change in Tourist Visa processing time with effect from 17/10/2011.
Processing Time for Tourist Visas:
Thai Nationals/ Non Thai Nationals with Work Permit or Resident Permit more than 3 years: 3 working days
Non Thai Nationals on Tourist Visas to Thailand or having Work Permit or Resident Permit less than 3 years: Minimum 6 working days
15/07/2011 With effect from 01/08/2011 original admission/bonafide letter for students is mandatory.
With effect from 01/08/2011 School/College/University/Institution in India must issue original admission/bonafide letter to the students well in time so that they can produce the same at the time of visa application. A copy of the letter may also be endorsed to the Embassy.
29/03/2011 Additional Consular service charge of THB 70 with effect from 01st April 2011:
With effect from 01 April 2011, an additional service charge of Thai Baht 70 per applicant would be applicable on all consular services (including Visa and Passport Services) with the exception of the following:-

Visa for Thai Buddhist Monks & Nuns
Re-entry permit 
07/02/2010 Change in visa application submission timings:
With effect from 08 Februar y, 2011 Visa Applications for India will be accepted from 0830 hrs to 1400 hrs (Monday to Friday) except Embassy holidays. No applications will be entertained after 1400 hrs.
26/11/2010 With effect from 29 November 2010 onwards, Embassy of India, Bangkok will normally issue Tourist visas for Single Entry valid for 3 months:
This is applicable for both Thai and Non Thai Nationals.

Thai Nationals- For longer duration of Tourist visas they may be required to appear for an interview or submit additional documents as decided by the Embassy.

Buddhist monks/nuns holding Thai passports intending to visit India for pilgrimage:
Six months multiple entry Visa is granted without the need for an interview.

Non Thai Nationals- For longer duration of Tourist visas they have to appear for an interview and produce additional documents for justification. The decision to issue vests entirely with the Embassy.
26/11/2010 Tourist Visa-on-Arrival:
The “Tourist Visa-on-Arrival (TVOA)” Scheme is being extended to tourists that are nationals of Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines and Laos, with effect from January 1, 2011.

Tourist Visa on arrival shall be granted by the Immigration Officers at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata airports and shall be valid for a maximum of 30 days with single entry facility .

Tourist Visa-on-Arrival Scheme for citizens of Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand and Singapore is already in place since 1 January 2010.
09/09/2010 Only Online Visa Applications will be accepted from 16/09/2010.:
With effect from 16 September 2010 onwards, Embassy of India Bangkok will accept only on-line visa applications through VFS(Global). The online form is available on the website of India Visa Application Centre. The last day to submit paper forms was 15th September 2010 after which no such requests will be entertained.

Only exception to this will be for Diplomatic/Official/UN passport holders who would continue to apply at the Embassy on the form available on Embassy's website.
11/08/2010 Outsourcing of Indian Passport & Related Services to commence from 23rd August 2010:
The India Visa Application Centre is officially authorized by the Embassy of India, Bangkok, Thailand to accept applications for Passport and passport related services. This is an additional arrangement apart from the exiting visa services and will commence from 23 of August 2010.

Please note that there is no change in the rules. All applications will be processed and decided by the Embassy of India Bangkok, in accordance with the Indian Passport Act.

The India Visa Application Centre is run and managed by VFS (Thailand) Ltd. VFS will provide application support service only. Staff members of VFS have no power or influence over the outcome of an application. The decision to approve or refuse an application is made solely by The Embassy of India. VFS's role is entirely restricted to collection and delivery of documents.

Following are the services which will be offered at the India Visa Application Centre.:
New passport
New passport for child below 15 years (5 years validity)
New passport and birth registration for new born baby(5 years validity)
Duplicate passport
Extension of validity of current short validity passport
Endorsement of spouse name in passport/change of surname after marriage
Deletion of spouse name in passport /change of surname after divorce
Change of name /addition of name/surname in case of child below 18 years
Change of name /addition of name/surname in case of adult
Change of address
Passport genuineness certificate

Submission Time: 0830 to 1400 hrs (Monday to Friday)

Collection Time: 1630 hrs to 1730 hrs (Monday to Friday)

Processing Time: Applicants are requested to check their passport

status online at www.ivac-th.com on the 6th working day.

Foreign nationals who have 6 months up to 10 years Tourist Visa with stay stipulation of 180 days/90 days
with multiple entry facility, there should be a gap of 2 months between two visits to the country. However if any foreigner requires to visit Indian again within a period of 2 months of his last departure, he/she has to obtain special permission from the Head of Mission. To acquire the permission the applicant should furnish the undertaking mentioning the purpose of his/her visit and also that he/she is not engaged in Business activities, nor in Employment or pursuing studies/research etc.
